Hace unos meses os presentábamos a Francis Brewer, fotógrafo profesional residente en Hawaii y especializado en fotografía de deportes acuáticos. Hoy Francis nos envía unas excelentes fotografías y una visión personal de lo que esta siendo Hawaii estos días.
Hawaii es sin duda uno de los lugares más pintorescos y fotogénicos del planeta. Con la temperatura media del aire situándose en torno a 26ºC y la temperatura media del agua alrededor de 24ºC. Esto hace de Hawaii un patio de recreo virtual para todos los entusiastas de los deportes acuáticos.
Surfers, kiters y windsurfistas de todo el mundo llegan a Hawaii para aprender y perfeccionar su habilidad y este año no será la excepción.
Principalmente durante esta época del año, es la costa sur de Oahu la que goza de la mayoría de las olas gracias a las tormentas que se crean cerca de Nueva Zelanda.
De vez en cuando sin embargo también llega un oleaje que logra crear las condiciones ideales para el windsurf en la costa norte. Este año en la costa sur de Oahu el viento y el oleaje han aparecido juntos para formar una alianza y asegurarse de que los dos trabajarán al unísono. El mes de mayo nos trajo algunas condiciones épicas con sólidas olas de 4/5 pies y vientos de 20 a 25 nudos, destacando el talento local para venir y disfrutar de una selección de las olas con poca gente (por ahora).
Algunos de los mejores windsurfistas del mundo llegan a Oahu y voy a tener la oportunidad de disparar mi cámara a Fabrice Beaux y Carvill Scott en mi propio patio trasero de casa, eso lo convierte en una emocionante sesión. Esta temporada tiene todo el potencial para ser uno de los mejores años, y espero lograr tanto de él como sea posible, tras la lente de la cámara.

Hawaii is without a doubt one of the most scenic and photogenic spots on the planet. With the average air temperature hovering around 78f and the average water temperature around 76f , This makes Hawaii a virtual playground to all water sport enthusiasts. Surfers, Kiters and windsurfers from all over the globe come to Hawaii to learn and to master their skill and this year will be no exception.
Primarily during this time of year it is the South Shore of Oahu that enjoys the majority of the swell moving up from the storms that are created near New Zealand. Occasionally however there is still an off-season North Swell that will make for ideal windsurfing conditions on the North Shore. This year the South Shore of Oahu has begun to fire early and the swell and wind would have appeared to form an alliance to make sure they are both working in unison. The month of May has turned in some epic conditions with solid 4-5 foot swells and 20-25knt winds, bringing out the local talent to come and enjoy the uncrowded selection of waves( for now).
Some of the best windsurfers in the world call Oahu home and to have the opportunity to shoot the likes of Fabrice Beaux and Scott Carvill in my own backyard always makes for a thrilling session. This season has all the potential to be one of the better ones and I look forward to capturing as much of it as possible from behind the lens.
